The weekly meditations which we will send out on the website are going to be a prayerful reviews of the whole Catholic faith. The fact is that if people are just attending the Sunday sermons they are not getting a thorough and comprehensive instruction on the Catholic faith because the Sunday readings are not aimed at that goal. What we hope to do with these meditations beginning with the Creed, is to give a comprehensive but prayerful review of the whole Catholic faith. It would be very helpful to have a copy of the Catechism of the Catholic Church - we are not going to comment on that book but we are going to follow the outline of the Creed, the Commandments and the Sacraments contained in it. This will not be done as a regular instruction but rather a source of meditation.

For prayer groups that only meet every other week, it might be helpful at the meeting to include the meditations for the two weeks together - that way there will be unity and comprehensibility to the whole program.

The scripture quotations that will be suggested are of extreme importance for the meditation. At present we will not put the scripture quotation on the website, but we will hold the members responsible for reading these quotations. This means that everybody should have a bible or at least a New Testament when they come to the prayer meeting. If people are going to buy a bible we suggest that they get the Ignatius Bible, or if it is available to them the New Navarre Bible. The New American (study edition) Bible is also helpful. The quotations contained in the Catechism of the Catholic Church would be taken from the Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition, which is now published by Ignatius Press (and known as the Ignatius Bible). We will make available more information on how you can obtain these and other books that we will be using. You can obtain some of them from our Spiritual Book Ministry.
